Surfing anyone?

surfmontreal.jpgI went on a bikeride today and came across a group of people getting out of their cars with surfboards. Some of them were putting on wetsuits. At first, I thought they must be doing windsurfing, but I didn’t see any sails. I decided to ask. Sure enough, they were surfing at a special spot located on the river behind Habitat 67. The girl who I spoke with informed me that there was a “continual wave” in the river there and that furthermore, there was a guy giving lessons. I went down the path where she pointed and sure enough, there was a guy riding one of the rapids, riding a permanent wave. He finally fell in, and many others tried and fell. Frankly it looked like a heck of a lot of fun.

Who would’ve thought you could go surfing in Montreal?!
