Damn idiots can’t even open doors right

I am writing the following out of anger, but I don’t expect this sentence to change the way you view what you are about to read.

Unlike so many humans, including Bush, I was born with the ability to control my anger among other things. To that end, in the next paragraph and the next one only, I am only going to say what happened with no feelings, no judgements, no exageration; only the facts.

About four hours ago, I witnessed an accident (I could say one hell of a big accident, but like I said: no judgements). It was on Saint-Denis in front of the restaurant Saint-Hubert a little south of Mont-Royal. The door of a car opened and some guy on his bicycle rode right in it. The guy leaped off his bike on the side just enough to avoid hitting his head on the door, but his elbow and his hand couldn’t avoid it. A bunch of people saw the accident and stopped. Two people stopped their car and went to take a closer look at the scene. I looked closely and saw that it was a woman who opened the door. Before ending the paragraph, I would just like to say as a witness that I was also the victim and to go on with all these facts, I am going to add that I can’t even lift my arm without feeling a humongous amount of pain.

When women give birth, they also feel an incredible amount of pain, but at least, what follows is happiness. I can’t say I am happy about having a dead arm. This is the second time this happens to me and the first time, it was also a woman who opened the door of her car. I am very conscious that some men also don’t pay attention when they open car doors, but right now, from my point of view, women are not displaying a very good image of themselves.

But you know what? It probably was my fault. I wasn’t reckless, it wasn’t like I didn’t pay attention to my surroundings and I did stop at the red lights AND the stop signs until I got there, but I completely ignored the rule to stop at every damn car and checking inside before passing by them!

From now on, I am going to ride in the middle of the street. A bunch of car drivers will be pissed, but I would rather have them angry at me, than have family and friends spend any second worrying about me. As much as I appreciate the sentiment, I would rather see them happy. Most importantly, I would rather have anybody angry at me than have a useless arm! I can’t even use it to drink a glass of water.

I am going to stop before saying something I regret.

It doesn’t mean anything to me, but at least, she said sorry.

In the movie The Pink Panther, the protagonist opens the door and a biker flies off. It was funny and I would find it funny if I saw it again.

It really doesn’t mean that it should be immitated in the streets.

well I drive and ride a bike at the same time. I did not see that accident so I can’t judge the situation, but I gotta say that it’s really a combination of both riders not paying attention. When I bike, I’m always ready to stop incase such thing happens, this time it was probably too late, but I think women pay way too little attention on such details. some even open their doors all the way as if the street is their’s.
btw, I dont advise riding in the middle on the street, u don’t want to be in a blind spot of some idiot driver.

I’m sorry to hear about your accident. I hope it’ll heal well. Did you see a doctor?

    Howdy!

As an ex-biker (I’m now just old, fat and in the way) I highly reccommend riding as far into the moving car lanes as you can. Listening to some cars honking is way more preferable to dying. For the 10 years that I was a regular biker, I never had any accidents, although I did have two ‘on purposes.’

If you would like some tips, suggestions or just encouragement, lemme know.

I was car-doored by a man a few years ago. Despite the lack of sweeping generalizations about male drivers, it still sucked.

The first time I did see a doctor. Not this time though.

It still hurts when I stretch my arm, but the pain decreases every day.

The Polysporin antibiotics is so good at getting rid of bruises.
