The Montreal Climate Change Conference did more than might have been expected to push forward the global actions needed to slow down the devastating effects of global warming. The Kyoto participants have signed on for a long-term action process. Only the USA and Australia are not signatories to Kyoto. However even they are involved in a non-binding process to achieve improvements.

The other way the conference succeeded was in the massive publicity given to the problem and the need for solutions. When you see the way US citizens or Australian citizens will be reading about what the rest of the world is doing, the pressure will be on for their leaders to lead and stop digging their heels in.
