Look who moved in under my shed

I don’t mind the racoons or my neighbor’s many cats but it’s precisely because of the latters that I’m not too crazy about having a skunk living under my shed. The question is how to “humanely” get rid of it? I called the city and they suggested putting a garden hose in the burrow and turning it on for the night. Hopefuly this is all that will be needed to convince it that this is not a safe place to live in.

Awwwww….what a cutie-patootie! Cuteness aside, I guess these critters could be a real pest not to mention potentially rabid.. I read that shining a light into its den all night might be a good deterrent since they’re nocturnal creatures who will stay away from light. Good luck! poor little skunky.
How cute is that? :D
Awww, but yes, according to the city they are protected, so making it an annoyance for them to live next to you, becoming a neighbour they can’t stand should do the trick. Myself, I don’t mind them, I like having them around.
After doing some more reading, I realized that we need to ascertain if it’s a female and if there are young ones under the shed.
I have these near my home in Ottawa. Turns out that the provincial law states that you can trap them live, but cannot move them more than 1 km from where you caught them. funny enough, Parliament hill is but 1 short kilometer away. I wonder if they might change the law if the skunks took up residence there?? hmmmmmmm
At any rate, they do a great job on the grubs.
