Wheee!

The city of Montreal announced yesterday that they will be building a secured bike path connecting Henri-Bourassa to Green Ave.

It’s just 4km but it’s 4 crucial km and it’s something we as cyclists have been waiting for, for years and years.

I tip my hat off to the City of Montreal and to Velo-Quebec who have been working this dossier for many years putting pressure on the city to get this project done.

There are now less and less reasons to not ride your bike in the city.

Stop taking your car!

    Bike theft ?

    Seriously ?

I’ve been riding my bike in the city for 8 months a year now for the past 15 years and only once did I have a bike stripped and that was mostly my mistake.

First, don’t ride a $4000 carbon fiber frame around town.

Ride a bike around town that if stolen, won’t cause you to slip into a depression for 6 months.

Next, get a good lock. Get a Kryptonite (with the orange cover).

Next, lock your front wheel to your back wheel and then to a parking meter or something strong that can’t be manipulated.

Next, don’t leave your bike out overnight. Bring it into the apartment. If you leave it outside, your risks of theft go sky high.

Do that, and your chances of having your bike stolen drop dramatically.
