I also live in Verdun where we use blue bags and I hate it. First of all, you have to buy them. Second, you have to use 2 every week, unless you want to keep the bags lying around for another week. Third, a bin takes up a discrete amount of space, whereas bags slop all over the place and look messy. Unfortunately I don’t have a closet I could put them in.

Hate em, hate em, hate em.

I remember a time when we put all of our recycling in bags. It was in the 80’s before we heard about global warming and climate change, we put our pop cans and milk jugs in the GARBAGE. It seems like the ville marie is taking steps towards the dark ages here. I know for sure that my bag will get ruined by “scavengers” looking for deposit related materials and I guess that is the ultimate “recycling”. Too bad it will be to the detriment of all the neighbors that have to deal with what’s left strewn about. There really was nothing wrong with the green boxes. I for one am not impressed! Typical ville Marie “governance”. I also liked how it came to be announced in french only and within one pamphlet. Makes me long to move back to Canada.

We’ve been using (blue) bags in Verdun for years now. It certainly does have it’s convenient advantages; a bag for anything paper-related and a bag for pretty much everything else. Easy peasy.

Whenever I put out my recycling all of the bottles and cans magically disappear overnight. This is good because I’m far too lazy to properly sort it.

Of course, none of this matters anymore because somebody stole my recyling bin and I have no choice but to load everything into PA delivery boxes and old Jean Coutu bags.

The bags are also only available at certain shops and certain times (yes, you have to buy them), and if you store them on your porch the squirrels/cats/critters will open them and make a mess.

Aww, I hope I don't get the plastic bags. I've grown quite fond of my green bac. I actually enjoy separating all my stuff. Now what am I going to do with all my OCD compulsions? Why couldn't they just give us nets to put over the bins like in Outremont? I don't even mind if people rummage through my recycling for bottles as long as they don't mess the careful state of impecable order that exists within the box. Now everything's just going to be chaos. Paper and plastic together! Scandalous! IMHO, plastic bags are a baaaad idea.
