This time it’s for real

Now this is what we call a snowstorm!

I took one look outside and decided on my own that my daughters would be staying home. The funny thing is that 10 min after the closing announcement from Marguerite Bourgeoys school board, I get an e-mail from the director of one my daughter’s Lachine private school informing us that his school is open. Probably because they waited for so long that most of their bus routes have already picked-up their students.

I wrote him back congratulating him on his use of technology but that his timing is flawed…and that there was no way I was sending my daughter to school simply because they didn’t make up their minds fast enough.

List of school closings in the extended entry…in case you haven’t heard yet.

Yeah, but do the universities ever close… no… I’m sitting in my office at Concordia and all I want to do is go play in the snow.

Unless you can take the bus or the metro, my best advice is for everybody to STAY HOME. I tried to drive to the lab from my house in Pierrefonds. Things were ok until we reached the Cote de Liesse exit. I guess that trucks were having problems going up the ramp because it was completely blocked. We managed to escape by going through a warehouse parking lot but I almost lost control of the car as we were getting back onto the 520. Fortunately, I was able to regain control just as we were about to hit the wall. Good thing I drive a small 4×4 with good winter tires or else I’d be making a call to my insurer.

After that, we decided to go back home for a change of pants.

For those of you who made it to work, the return home is gonna be nasty. The snow on the west island is turning to sleet which means that we might also get some freezing rain.
