100 Years Old And Going Strong

Macdonald College, McGill University, is now marking its centenary out in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue at the west end of Montreal Island. Canada Post has already struck a stamp in its honour. This week-end there will be an all-years celebration Reunion and Banquet in the Centennial Centre Ballroom on Saturday. (Details PDF 141 kb). All Dip/FMT graduates are encouraged to come and enjoy the celebrations.

The Macdonald Community is also planning extra-special participation in the Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue Christmas Parade on Saturday to commemorate a 100-year partnership between the Town of Sainte-Anne and Macdonald.

I’m a John Abbott College alumnus (which shares the Macdonald campus — in fact, some Abbott buildings were once part of Macdonald). It’s such a beautiful campus.

In my third year at Abbott (in 1995), my friends found out that the Mac coffee house had a pool table in the basement. We managed to get a pool tournament going for a couple of weeks before Macdonald students’ complaints about our hogging the table got us kicked out.
