Say It Isn’t So

A new Dollarama opened up recently in Place de la Cathedrale. Personally, I like the dollar store. I always find something to buy there. But even a shopaholic has limits. Lo’ and behold, we are in the first week of October, before Thanksgiving, before Hallowe’en, and there are already Christmas decorations for sale! Is anyone (in their right mind) in the mood to buy Christmas ornaments now?? I mean, really, gimme a break.

I’d be… I love Christmas, it makes me feel happy. And buying decorations would remind me of that happy feeling! :P But no… No… Not before Halloween!!

For the last few weeks at the Winners in Alexis-Nihon there have been Halloween decorations for sale, awesome! I walked in two days ago and found that they have now been replaced with x-mas decor… WHAT? Halloween hasn’t even come and gone yet and the stuff was replace by x-mas stuff!? After walking around the store for a bit, I noticed that the Halloween stuff had been moved, but there wasn’t as much, nor was it as prominent as it was.

Can’t we enjoy the Fall season before being rushed into the Winter and jingling bells?

I was shopping for party hats and whatnot for my daughter’s birthday party at our dollar store. This was on the 14th or 15th of September. They already had an entire aisle of Christmas stuff. I recoiled in horror and ran past it, it’s way too early!

Back in some suburbs near Chicago, they outlawed keeping up your holiday decorations more than 60 days before or after a holiday. Maybe they could do the same for selling holiday decorations. Lets call it Bill 12-25.

Hey, my local supermarket in England has had advent calenders and Christmas decorations next to the Summer Barbecue stuff since the middle of September. It’s like Summer never happened. Still, there must only be around 100 shopping days left…
