Beware of bikers
Today I passed a bad-looking accident at St. Urbain and Prince Arthur. A car had hit a cyclist, whose bike was in a crumpled heap on the curb. An ambulance was there.
Folks, if you’re driving, keep an eye out for cyclists. One of the great charms of this city is its European-style reliance on bikes to get around. Let’s keep it that way.

Yeah, watch out drivers. Some people ride their bikes from March to December. And that was before winters got hot.
“HOT”?? That sound you hear is me, laughing like a hyena, all the way from the Old Port. I’m already grousing about wanting to go to Miami.
And cyclists… please watch for pedestrians.
Daily I dodge free-wheeling daredevils zipping through Prince Arthur. There’s been many cases of us walking folks getting clipped by cyclists- with dire consequences.
Bikers also need to watch out for cars. Nobody looks into their dead corners here when they turn right, and flahers are also a totally optional thing. If you drive conservative (and don’t do crazy things like riding on the left side of the road, against traffic or through red lights when there are cars coming) as a cyclist you might actually survive. (Says someone who still recovers from a very simple bike accident two summers ago…)
Ok, when I said hot winters in Montreal, I really didn’t think of anyplace like Miami or even compared tot anyplace like that. I should have been more clear andd said that winters in Montreal are hotter than they used to be or would people prefer “less cold”.
