Fall seems a bit early

Historically, the peak autumn colors appear around the 10th of October in Montreal. Today, my street is littered with fallen leaves and we haven’t even closed out summer! Is it just me, or has fall been somewhat accelerated this year? I adore this time of year and watching as Mont Royal turns orange, first on top and then creeping down the sides. The botanical gardens are also a good place to see some vibrant displays. Here’s a tree screaming, “Yellow!” at Square Victoria.

I saw a tree with yellow leaves in August. I never took any side about the global warming debate, but I do know that it’s definitely not happening in Montreal.

The Eastern townships and St-Benoit du Lac abbey are a great Thanksgiving (Columbus day) road trip. We went two years ago and the colors were amazing. I’m sure the Laurentides will be peaking in the next couple weekends.

Well, all I can say is that today was the official first day of Fall, after all! So no, it’s not too early I guess.

I like this time of year as well, sweater weather, as I like to call it.
