The new property assessment rolls have been released by the city of Montreal. The good news? The values of our properties have greatly increased. In our case, an 84% increase compared to the price we paid in 1997. Notably, the value of the land itself has doubled since the last assessment in 2004.

The bad news? That the number that they will use to calculate our municipal and school taxes. Furthermore, even if we’d sell our house at profit, we’d still have to find a place to live.
