Besides things at my gallery, there are a bunch of events happening this week that definitely look interesting. If you go to any of these please don’t hesitate to introduce yourself.

Tomorrow – Tuesday Sept 19, Iegor Auction starts at 7:30. Looks to be a very interesting auction as there is a bunch of contemporary Chinese art, along with one of my favorite artists Claude Tousignant, and a whack of Russian art. The wine ain’t bad, and it is free.

Wednesday Sept 20, 7:00 pm
Marc Mayer, director of the Musee d’art contemporain continues his relentless outreach into the anglophone community. He’s giving a talk called ‘What is Contemporary Art?’ at the Westmount Library. If you’re not in Westmount or lazy and don’t want to travel, he is also going to be giving a talk in Côte-St-Luc on October 20, Pointe Claire on November 15, and Dollard-des-Ormeaux on November 29. I wanna know if he is making tour shirts, and if he is I want one. I don’t think they serve wine at the Westmount Library, but they do serve beer just down the street.

Thursday Sept 21, 5:30 pm

Concordia University is celebrating the opening of the FOFA Gallery (their third gallery if you’re keeping score). FOFA standing for Faculty Of Fine Arts. It is someplace called EV1-715 (I assume that it is in the new building) the show is called Body Notes and includes art from Concordia professors Caroline George, Sophie Jodoin, Marc Séguin, Theresa Sapergia and Marion Wagschal. There’s a Sculpture Court where Zoom! An installation by Randall Anderson will be enveiled.
I’m certain that the wine will be fabulous and free.
