Shots Fired at Dawson College!

Several shots were fired inside a downtown Montreal college on Wednesday, and initial reports from the scene suggest at least two people were injured, television networks said.

The incident happened at Dawson College, which the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. said had around 10,000 students.

The event took place around 1:15 PM in the cafeteria. There are several injuries. One of the suspect has escaped and is described as a tall man with a Mohawk.

One student at Dawson College reported she saw two people who had been shot, including one who had been hit in the neck. The student said a friend told her four people had been shot.

“I’m just hearing a witness now speaking saying that she was in the college and she saw someone coming down the stairwell with a gun,” Kahane told CTV Newsnet.
“They ran back into their classroom and closed the door. The person was apparently chasing someone, and they heard, in her words, at least 20 shots fired, and they stayed inside their classroom until they felt they could get out safely.”

Police scanners indicate that a gunman may still be in the school, but television reports show police surrounding buildings in the neighbourhood. According to reports, witnesses saw a man dressed in military fatigues take a rifle from the trunk of his car, enter the college, and begin shooting.
Dawson College has 10,000 English-language students. The school is a CEGEP (junior college) located at the southwest corner of Sherbrooke Street and Atwater Avenue in downtown Montrea

• Depending of sources, it appears that one of the suspect either shot himself or was shot by police.
• Westmount Square and Place Alexis-Nihon have also been evacuated.
• The Green Line has been interrupted between Peel Lionel-Groulx.
• The emergency room of the Montreal General Hospital has been closed to better receive the injured.
• Three of the injured are said to be in critical condition.

• Unconfirmed reports of at least one dead.
• One of the shooter is believe to have been a student at the school.
• There might have been as many as three shooters.

• The radio station CKAC (only in French) is talking about the shooting, almost non-stop.
• The green line metro is still working but the don’t stop at the stations between Lionel-Groulx and Peel. This will remain the case for a few hours.
• These streets around Dawson College are all closed: Atwater, Maisonneuve, Wood and Sherbrooke. At this time, some people are still in the building. Apparently, mobile phone networks are overwhelmed.
• Searches are being made floor by floor, room by room. The number of suspects is unknown.

• One suspect has shot himself, the other was killed by police.
• 2 dead, 6 injuries, 3 critical.
• A third suspect, wearing a dark treach coat and a Mohawk subsequently entered a shopping center.
• Exits Atwater and Guy on 720 West are closed as is the square formed by Sherbrooke, Rene Levesque, Green and Dufort.
