Sidewalk etiquette

As I traipse around downtown on my daily circuit of teaching classes, I’ve had the most annoying experience twice this week. I’ve been honked at while walking down the sidewalk. Don’t get me wrong, I am all about infrastructure to help the physically disabled to function freely in our society. (And it’s a crime that the metro stations have no elevators, though I’ve heard plans for that are in the works.) But I draw the line at honking. Just because your electric chair can do 30km/h doesn’t mean you’re entitled to honk people out of the way on the sidewalk. How about “excuse me” - sorry but the horn has got to go.
