A mother’s courage
Twice, Khaira Akif had to run through a wall of fire but she managed to carry her two children, age 3 and 10, and to throw them out of the second floor window to waiting neighbors. Although this divorced mother will now face months of painful therapy for second degree burns over 80% of her body, her courage has allowed her children to escape with only minor injuries.
