Same as it ever was
So here we are, nearing the final stretch of the CFL season and WHOA, it’s deja vu all over again: the Als have lost 4 straight. Not only did they lose, they had their cups handed to them on a platter.
Normally, I could probably give some insight into what is wrong.. say - missing a good corner.. or our safety’s are slow as hell or we need a good running back, or our O-Line bites.. but this time, it’s a collective effort. The entire team at this very point really stinks.
I managed to find tickets for the game on Friday. It was the first time I went this year. Normally I get to go 2-3 times a year. I hadn’t seen the additions to Molson Stadium. The new giant screen has to go. I see no reason for it. I remember back when the Als chose to go to Molson Stadium. The summer before, for a few days a week, I would hang out on the field with a friend of mine who was in charge of stadium rentals during the day, sun bathing. There was, no joke, a tree growing out of the corner of the stands. Now, there is a giant screen growing. I preferred the tree.
What makes Molson Stadium so great is that it was like watching a small college match. You felt close to the players, to the action. You didn’t feel like you were going to some huge Vegas spectacle. But year after year, that’s changing and this new screen only takes away from the original feel.

I’ve gotten so out of football lately (CFL at least). I used to have season tickets, but just started loosing interest over the past couple of years and haven’t been to a game for quite some time. All that to say that I’ve yet to see that giant screen, but I can certainly imagine how it would take away from the “small college” feel. I’m disappointed to hear that they have one now.
