Lunchtime Oases - The Westmount Greenhouses
There are many oases of calm around the city. Those who realise the revivifying pleasure of getting away from the stress and noise in their lunch breaks can usually find such an oasis if they keep their eyes open. It may be an art gallery or a library reading room but you’re never far from one.
I noticed an open door today just to the west of the Westmount Library. The Westmount Greenhouses .. I’d heard of them but in all the years had never visited them. One sign with the opening hours indicated why the door was open. The other Fermé / Closed sign was clearly to intimidate and limit intrusions. I accepted the invitation of the open door and found beauty and tranquillity within. There are small fountains and quiet benches and a welter of beautiful plants and flowers.
If you work near this oasis, I can highly recommend it.
