Cachondo - La Noche Latina
Last night’s concert at parc Emilie Gamelin outside Berri UQAM metro was fantastic. Monica Freire did a great set that was similar to the stint she did at the jazz festival.
The only difference being about 10000 people. There was a great crowd but it wasn’t claustrophobia inducing like the jazz fest crowd tends to be. Also on stage were Zuruba, who really pumped up the crowd with their “Brazilian funk”. Finally, the reason I went down there, one of my fave bands from South America, Los Amigos Invisibles took the stage. I posted a video of their first song over here. I highly recommend strolling through the village in the evening (whether you’re gay or straight) as the energy is high and the people watching couldn’t be better. Everybody knows Ste Catherine street is closed until Sunday from St Hubert to Papineau, don’t they?
