Transactions on McGill College Avenue

Transactions2.JPG

Has anyone had a chance to catch the outdoor exhibit on McGill College Avenue? It’s here until October 16th. I passed by during lunch last week and it was truly fascinating. The exhibit is called Transactions and consists of photos selected from the Notman collection at the McCord Museum. They’re being displayed all the way down McGill College Avenue between de Maisonneuve and Ste Catherine right outside Place Montreal Trust. There are color photos of artefacts on one side of the displays and black and white photos of everday life on the other. I much prefer the black and white photos because they give a romantic feeling to the city. It’s amazing how developed Montreal was in the 1800’s. So if you’re walking around downtown, try to stop off and take a look. Art in the heart of downtown. What a great way to spend summer in the city.

Every year there’s an exhibit on McGill College, I remember a couple of years ago they had beautiful photographs from around the world in every day life. All the photos were taken from a bird’s eye view and it was gorgeous. There were also black & white portraits as well, very well done. I love this exhibit, it’s one of my favs :)
