Repercussion Theater
I remember tthe first time I saw a Repercussion Theater performance. I was living in NDG and had wandered to Westmount Park one fine summer evening and I stumbled upon it by chance when I wondered, “what are all those people sitting around for?” I found out a performance of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” was about to start, so I flopped down and watched it.
I think it was a year later, give or take, that I had the courage to audition for them. Once upon a time I fancied myself an actor, and after taking classes and doing performance through the school, I decided I was ready to tackle Shakespeare. I’ve never been a big fan of reading the plays because it’s too passive, but acting them out or watching them as a performance is a whole other experience. I didn’t get the part, but I got positive feedback and encouragement, so that was fun - one of the most fun auditions I ever did.
I haven’t seen any of their stuff in quite awhile now, at least seven years, but it’s not too late if you’ve been meaning to catch a show - they’re still performing in several locations throughout the month of August, so you can see Much Ado About Nothing before the summer season is over.

I saw Much Ado About Nothing this weekend in Westmount and it was pretty good, as well as lots of fun. Not your traditional Shakespeare.
