Light show
I had a lot of trouble sleeping last night. It was a nice change though because at least it wasn’t because of either of my kids. It was the amazing show Nature was putting on for us.
Around 10 I noticed that the wind had really picked up and I wondered if the tree outside my window was going to snap in half since it was being whipped around so much. Then I went to look out the back and it was like someone was standing outside taking pictures. One flash of sheet lightning after another, with bursts of forked lightning, and it was spectacular to watch. As I peered out the window I saw some guy across the way was watching from his balcony, probably getting a better view but I had the last laugh when it abruptly started to pour.
I fell asleep around 11:15 but woke up inexplicably at 1 am. Then I realized I was awake because there was a strobe light in the bedroom. Or not. Maybe it was just another storm. Even with the blinds closed, it was so bright and so repetitive that I laid awake anyway, so I decided I might as well open them a bit and enjoy the show.
I don’t like being stranded outside during a lightning storm for the obvious paranoid reasons, but if I’m inside at night with a cup of tea, nothing on television can match a good storm.
