And Sacramento makes 49

The Metroblogging Empire has added one more city to its quest for world domination. Metroblogging Sacramento is now live and becomes our 49th site.

I wonder who will be the 50th? Metroblogging Bagdad would be cool, I’m sure they’d have a lot of things to say.

Baghdad would definitely be interesting1 On a personal level I’d love to see Prague join the ranks, especially if some of the bloggeres wrote in English (since I don’t speak Czech) and ESPECIALLY if there were lots of photos.

    Thanks for the welcome, Montreal!

I’m going to visit your fair city in early September - so I’m counting on your sage advice for the happening spots.

Speaking of which - anyone have any good hotel recommendations? Neighborhoods? Etc?

CD, I don’t know enough about the hotels from a personal level (eveyone I know has just stayed with friends or family) to suggest one.

As for neighborhoods, what sorts of things do you enjoy? Old Montreal and the Old Port are must-sees in general but especially if you like history - you can do great walking tours of Old Montreal.

If you’re into thrifting, the Plateau is amazing for great deals, and I think the Tam-Tams are still going on in September, aren’t they? Those are fun too, in the same area, right at the base of the mountain.

Downtown is fun for your generic clubbing and shopping.

I’m sure others will have lots of great ideas for you too!

Did you say “walking tour?” Magic words! My boyfriend (another former MBSFer) ADORE walking tours and have walked other MB cities. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated!

I’d love you and your readers advice for first time visitors who will have exceedingly little research done on your fine city before arrival.
