That Bagel Place

bagelbakery.jpgA friend of mine out in Halifax recently had an encounter with a teen who was originally from Montreal. Being in Nova Scotia for some years, he didn’t remember a whole lot about the city, nothing too specific anyway, except for one thing; Bagels.

My friend having once lived in Montreal for a few years a while back told him that she knows Montreal well and he immediate asked her if she’s ever been to that bagel place at Le Faubourg Ste. Catherine (which is ironically called Place du Bagel - Bagel Place). It’s one of the main things that the kid remembered about living here, mostly due to the fact that you can stand in the window watching them hard at work making some of Montreal’s best bagels (in this blogger’s humble opinion anyway). My friend knowing that I was going down for a visit a few days after their conversation got me to bring some along with me…

So I walked on over on my lunch hour the day of my flight out and picked up two dozen. One of my co-workers wanted some as well, I gave a few to my parents and I shared a couple and had one for my own lunch… Guess you can say that I spread the “bagel love” that day. They were still warm, fresh out of the oven when the lovely lady that served me was putting them into paper bags. She didn’t even flinch when I asked for 24 of them, just smiled and started packing ‘em in, so I imagine that it’s a common occurrence for them!

Needless to say, the kid was ecstatic when my friend brought him the bagels the next day after my arrival.

That’s how good these bagels are.

Their bagels are absolutely fabulous. The cinammon croissants are worth a nimble or two, also!
