Lebanon to Montreal

After hearing about the death of 8 Canadians in Lebanon, including a family of 5 in Aïtaroun, I decided the check out the size of the Lebanese community in Montreal. After all, they run my two favorite grocery stores ;-)

Number of Lebanese immigrants living in Montreal: 32,000
47 % of them live in Saint-Laurent, d’Athuntsic-Cartierville and Côte des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce.
Number of Canadian citizen currently visiting Lebanon: At least 16,000. Getting them out of there is going to require a lot of ships.

Please leave the comment section for those that have useful information to communicate, especially for those still trying to locate loved ones. There are more than enough blogs out there for political discussions, accusations and flame wars.

[update] I just heard that the family was from Montreal and that the father, who came here 30 years ago, has been seriously wounded.
