“Sale Pub Sexiste”
Some advertisements are controversial. Some are funny. Some are simply tasteless. Some are hilarious. Some are ordinary.
I pass by this bus stop sometimes. And on the bus stop there is a very sexual ad, featuring two girls in a sexy pose, revealing clothing, etc. It’s an ad from Buffalo, David Bitton. The girls resemble the ones on this snapshot from the David Bitton website…
But today as I passed by the ad looked different… Someone covered it up!
It reads “Ne me pornographie plus. Quand tu trembles devant ta propre naissance. evecensure@yahoo.ca. Sale pub sexiste.” Which doesn’t make total sense to me but I guess in English it means “Don’t pornography me. When you tremble looking at (or in front of) your own birth. evecensure@yahoo.ca. Filthy sexist ad.”
I wonder if Eve will get a lot of emails concerning her ad…? I wonder why Eve did this? Was Eve scared of being caught/seen? Did Eve think doing this would make a difference?
A quick Internet search and I found Dads & Daughters website with an alert to “Get Buffalo Jeans to Stop Aiming Porn Marketing at Girls.” It seems their ads have also been controversial in the past…

Ads aren’t sexist or any other -ist, unless that’s what they intend to promote. It’s all about knowing the audience. That ad wants to sell women clothes, they’re not going to put men wearing that, so I don’t see the sexism.
Someone will have to explain to me the pornography part. Are you not showing something that would help me with that?
Under the paper the ad has the two girls posing in a “strange” pose, really close together,and wearing revealing clothes. I guess that made Eve think of porn. You’d have to email her to know why she wrote that. :P
If the paper is gone today I’ll take a pic of the original ad.
I’ve seen one of the “sale pub sexist” stickers being stuck over one of the Dove ads in the Metro (the ones where you see a black and white pic of the back of a woman with the line of a low-cut top replicated with lotion.
Often, those clothes ads have girls (or sometimes guys) half-naked in a alluring pose. Although it still is mainly the women in those ads that are half-naked etc., it also appears more and more for the guys. Basically, the problem with those ads is that it promotes only one body type (tall, and skinny for girls; tall, muscular and hairless for men).
Moi je parle francais et je trouve sa con de metttre des stickers laite sur des choses publiques. Y’a rien de sexiste la dedans c’est juste des filles!!!
On n’en vois partout et ont s’en fou si elles veulent ce montrer le cul pis les boules c’est leur problèmes mais ils ce mettent po a poil faut pas capoter !!!
premierement, les gars: arretez de blogger avec ce qui ne vous affecte pas personellement suaf peut-etre de facon semi-positive car vous beneficiez de filles sexy et sexualles devant vous prete a vous “donner” quoi que ce soit. le pub de fruitopia avec le slogan “juteuse a souhait” pour revient-it la????
alors foutez nous la paix stupides males avec trop de voix.
deuxiemement,
la publicite est sexiste non juste parce qu’elle montre un suel genre de corps, mais plus precisement car la pub s’approprie du crops, definit l’image du corps et nous le revend… la pub nous affecte car elle est basee sur la realite et une histoire réelle de femininité. . dotn on a essaye pendant plusieurs decenies de nous debarasser. je crois que pour me croire vraiment, vous devez en premier accepter que la pubnous affecte vraiment car elle s’approprie et se construit sur notre propre culture et sumboles!

ps: commetn pouvez-vous parler contre le sexisme (sans avant tout vous laisser faire apprendre ou vous informer sur le raisons possibles qui ont amené ces stickers) quand vous n’etes meme pas femmes?
pss: l’image buffalo est pornographique car, comme en pornographie traditionelle, elle est cnetree sure la vision male: la femelle se donner corps et ame pour se faire definir comme desir d’homme completement, mais les vraies femells ne sont pas ainsi, elle ont une seuxlaite a eux,,, mais malheureusemsnt les pubs comme ca encouragent le contraire en ne donnat pas une voie aux possibilites alternatives d’expression feminine.
