133

Remember back at the end of January the SPVM hired 133 new cops to deal with circulation on the Montreal Island. I didn’t think I’d notice a difference but now at least twice a week I see someone pulled over and a cop giving them a ticket. And before I never saw that! So I guess those extra cops are making a bit of a difference. Have you gotten a ticket for speeding, running a red light, etc? Do you think we need even more cops on the roads to make sure the rules of circulation are followed?

Now if they could only clean out Jarry metro station… that would be nice

Yes, i also noticed many police cars since a few months.

i’m not sure if Montreal still needs more cars and more personel, but i have to say that if all policemen and policewomen were more active, i.e. showed up at places where lots of people act dangerously, and systematically gave tickets, we would really see an improvement.

Another thing is that police car drivers should stop ignoring the driving rules themselves: within a year, EACH AND EVERY police car i’ve observed on the streets was being illegal in a way or another…

Yeah good luck from stopping cops from breaking the rules. They’ll deny it all anyway. And how many times have cops pusposefully drove in front of me and slowed me down to a slow 10 to 15 KMs just to toy with me.

That said. They should show up in subways more often and disperse the gangs. In my station (Jarry) there’s sometimes up to 40 gang members at one time and I don’t if it’s all the same gang. Nothing has happened yet violence wise, but anyone with eyes open and good nostrils, can see and smell all the transactions going on.
