Water, water, everywhere
What a wet morning it is today with dire warnings of freezing rain and of flash freezing, whatever that may be. Those who know say that 70% of the earth is covered by water. It looks like an underestimate this morning.
Apparently it’s going to get worse. There’s a report in this morning’s Gazette that the Greenland glaciers have doubled their rate of melting over the last 5 years. There’s a longer account in Newsday today, Greenland’s glaciers quicken flow to sea. That’s very alarming as you can gauge by the number of bloggers who are commenting on the melting of the Greenland glaciers.
Water, water. We can’t live without it. I hope we manage to live with it.

Wow, that last sentence was quite poetic… :-)
The temperature is supposed to get from 0°C to -12°C within a few hours, so i guess that’s what they meant by ‘flash freezing’. I can’t wait to see what it’s going to look like this afternoon…
Ah, Quebec, what a province!
That weather front is definitely over us right now. The wind is so strong that I have seen two pigeons flying backwards.
Wow! I actually was able to see the cold front just pass across the city from my window. Now it sounds like the windows are going to blow in. It’s the first time I felt the building sway in the wind.
According to Meteomedia, wind gusts are currently peaking at 100 km/h. The temperature has dropped by 12 degrees in the past 30 min.
This is getting surreal. I can see snow falling directly in front of me with no visibility, but look up a bit and I see blue sky. The whole while I’m getting seasick. Oh, wait… It’s sunny again.
My father’s plane made it as far north as Burlington from New York and was forced to turn back. They were on the jetway in New York getting off the plane and were told to turn around and get back on. They are making another go at it. Craziness!
I live near Cadillac station, and on my street, there’s a portion of the sidewalk that always retains water when it rains or when the snow melt, creating a huge deep puddle that can only be avoided by either walking on the lawn of the buildings there or by walking in the street… Lots of fun when running late in the morning to catch the bus and stepping into ankle deep water…
