Twister in the subway

Twister is a great game. People getting into messed up position to reach for the right spot. There’s a 3D version of that game in the subway every morning where eveyrone try to either reach for something to hold onto with their hands and they try to put their feet in the right position to stay in balance.

It seems there are more people taking the metro these days. It must be the cold or perhaps the snow making people not use their cars.

Podcaster Extraordinaire

I heard an excellent interview on CBC Radio this morning between host Shelagh Rogers and Marie-Chantale Turgeon. Ms. Turgeon is the author of a blog, Vu d’ici / (Seen from here)/, and among other things is a celebrated podcaster. If you want to know what’s happening on the Montreal Music scene, then her blog is a good place to start.

Montreal Podcasters Meetup

Howdy!

In case anybody is interested, Tod Maffin, current Godfather, Head Geek, Large and in Charge geek at CBC has organized a meeting for Montreal Podcasters. It is scheduled for Tuesday, November 29th. 7:30 pm at La Cabane (familiar as the home of YULBLog, too!)

Back in July, I compiled a list of Montreal Podcasters.

Someone else got the shot

Monday evening, as I was leaving the library with my daughter, the sky was providing us with quite a spectacle. The full moon was illuminating a superb cloud formation that was producing an amazingly regular series of stripes. I drove home like a madman, trying to get to my tripod and camera before the moment was past.

Unfortunately I was too late but somebody else was carrying his camera that night.

Where do you shop?

The holiday shopping season is upon us and I thought I would ask you the reader along with our authors

It’s snowing.

It’s snowing and raining, no icing today. I suppose in every buildings today, while it was snowing, people said it was very beautiful. When they went out, they probably cursed it. Human nature.

I already saw people shoving snow. If you haven’t done it, don’t, because it’s going to be 12oC tomorrow with a lot of rain.

I can’t wait to ski.

LibriVox seeking Montreal input

Fellow YULblogger, Hugh of dose magazine, has asked me to help promote a project he has created. It is called LibriVox and he is hoping to get some Montreal input. You may have already heard about it on other blogs.

LibriVox volunteers record chapters of books in the public domain, and we release the audio files back into the public domain. Our objective is to make all books in the public domain available, for free, in audio format on the internet. We are a totally volunteer, open source, free content, public domain project.

LibriVox is always looking for volunteers, to read and record chapters of books in the public domain, but also to help with other aspects of this growing project: technical (cataloging, social networking, web design, communication); graphics; publicity; coordination of volunteers etc etc

Escort Service

That was an odd sight. I just saw a fighter pilot escort a commercial airliner into Dorval. Unfortunately, I don’t have my camera with me so I don’t have an accompanying photo. Hearing those distinctive jet engines can leave you with an uneasy feeling.

Preparation for upcoming snow.

It’s getting cold. People don’t wait. From where I’m standing to take this shot, every house on each side of this street has covered up their garage entrance.

Taxi fares

Starting today riding the taxi will cost you a bit more! Due to the hike in gas prices the
