Let’s form the ABTPP movement
I don’t normally get into political discussions but perhaps I may be permitted a small rant. It really is absurd when there are so many real problems for government at all levels to tackle that so much time is spent on who will do the governing. Those politicians who are out of power are working out how to get in power. Those politicians who are in power are working out how to stay in power. We now have the unedifying spectacle of the federal opposition parties trying to figure out whether they should pull the plug and if so who should do the pulling. So they all check the polls, stick their fingers up in the air to test the wind and who knows .. they may even be checking the entrails of goats, which was the way these things used to be done.
Why can’t they all buckle down and do what we’ve sent them there to do, which is govern? No, we do not wish to go voting on Boxing Day. Perhaps to concentrate their minds, we should start the ABTPP movement. We all band together and agree to vote for Anyone But The Plug Puller. Mr. Martin has agreed to come to the polls when the next Gomery report has been tabled. So to our political masters, why not just get some work done until then.

Get work done? Are you insane man? Wouldnt that be nice if they could. The only ones that tried (NDP) have been largely ignored and yet their social program borders on greatness and Jack, well Jack almost makes me believe in him and in the potential of politics.
I remember after the election last summer that someone on news radio was saying how minority governments have a hard time getting things completed since the oppositions get antsy because they are so close to coming into power.
I find a lot of this rhetoric very silly. Layton is trying his best to make the most of his position. Pressing him like earlier this week shows people don’t understand the position he is in. The jockeying by the others just shows their misaligned intentions. A reasonable date has been suggested for the elections. Let’s deal with it then and enjoy the holidaze.
Those wily politicians. I guess the possibility of this ABTPP movement had them thinking. I believe Jack Layton will bring up a non-confidence vote next Tuesday to have Parliament dissolved in January and an election thereafter. At least this way some important legislation won’t be dropped so there’s an advantage. However we’ll still be trudging through the snow to vote. :(
