World Press Photo
So today was the second part of the World Press Photo (WPP) workshop. As participants in the workshop we had an assignment to submit on “the secret lives of teenagers”. I had lunch and viewed the WPP exhibition with the other participants. Then we went downstairs in the “bunker room” where Ami Vitale spoke to us about her work, showing us a few photographs. She also commented on the photographs we had submitted for the assignment, giving us tips. She is a really nice person, really takes time to listen to questions and comments and seems genuinely interested in hearing about you. Also today the winner of the workshop was announced. It was not a big surprise to me that I didn’t win… And I really liked the work of the winner, I am glad he won! The winner’s prize is a one week internship at La Presse newspaper. So I am still glad I participated and getting one of my photographs in the exhibition is awesome! I learned a lot about myself. And how to improve in the future.
So the exhibition is opening for the public tomorrow. Go check it out, it’s a really nice collection of press photographs. This exhibition is seen all over the world! Here are the details…
When: 07 October 2005 - 29 October 2005
Times: Monday - Friday 11.00 to 22.00 Saturday 12.00 to 19.00
Where: Parisian Laundry & Co, 3550 Saint Antoine West, Montreal
I will go back to the exhibition once it is opened to the public and make sure to take a photograph of my photo in the exhibition as a souvenir! Oh an by the way, my photo is on the main floor when you come in. It’s at the back of the room, behind the last wall. It’s exposed on a “curtain” of photographs (photos held together with round hook things to form a curtain), in the lower left corner. My name is there too to help you find it…
