Going underground

This is my first post on Metroblogging Montreal. I’m nervous! And excited!

Today I went downtown to a photography shop, Contact Image. I participated in their World Press Photo workshop and had to drop off my photography assignment. I’ll have more on this topic Thursday as I will be at the launch of the exhibition at the Parisian Laundry Co. But back to today’s story… The nearest Metro station was Lucien-L’Allier. There was a homeless man holding the door of the station opened, wanting to get money in his cup. Doorholding is a popular way to ask money in Montreal! On my way back home I made a video that follows the walk all the way down to reach the platform, going underground. It was fun editing it afterwards… You can view the result and take a peek at the Montreal metro (about 9MB, .wmv file).

Update (18 October 2005): I’ve followed Long’s suggestions and the file is now being hosted on Dailymotion and it should work again soon (after they approve it)! :)

Pretty neat, but a 8.5 MB a pop, your server is in for a world of hurt.

Rammstein sounds better in the original German ;-P

Yea… I’m hosting the video just for now… I’m looking for a free online file server to host it… Don’t want all my bandwith to be “wasted” on this! :P

And yea. German Rammstein is indeed better. But it is funny to hear Til sing in English…!

you have many options for free online web hosting (that actually works the way they say it does)

    Vimeo and Dailymotion

There’s also savefile.com, but they will delete the file if it’s not downloaded for a while.

    Then there’s putfile.com which i haven’t used yet.

I’ll keep these 2 in mind for the next time… But for now it seems the one I found is still working properly!
