And this little piggy got fungus

I’ve been on the net this morning trying to find a podiatrist downtown. It seems that I have become a real member of the running community, I now have one black toenail and another that appears to be travelling across my toe to another location. Just writing about it activates my gag reflex, its bad when your own feet turn your stomach. And so, I have been on the search for a foot doctor, someone that will take a gander at my mangled tootsies and suggest something other than ‘stop running’. The problem with podiatrists (sounds like an exciting movie title, doesn’t it?) is that they don’t always take into consideration the needs of an athlete and that simply stopping an activity is not the solution. My internet search has not proved to be as fruitful as I had hoped; it seems that not too many Montreal podiatrists have their own websites. I wish they had a BOM category for foot doctors. Maybe I’ll suggest it as a new one for next year, I’m sure it will be a wildly popular category.

I don’t have a clue, but the one podiatrist that comes to
mind is Dr. Nathaniel Walker The only reason I know about him
is that he used to be a regular guest on Peter Anthony Holder’s
show on CJAD, and invariably, a comment would be made about
how fitting a foot doctor have “Walker” as his last name.

He hasn’t been on the show for a long time, but I think that’s
because the format changed. Peter’s website still has a list
for him, and it lists the Westmount Medical Building at 5025
    Sherbrooke Street West.

I know nothing more about him than that, and sure don’t know
    anything more about podiatry.

    Michael

My mother runs a few marathons and ultra marathons a year. She has that problem also where her toenails will turn black and fall off after some runs. If I remember correctly, the Saucony brand of running shoe are know for their large toe boxes. She also had the problem of finding doctors in Chicago sympathetic to runners. Now she lives near Duke Univ. in NC so there is no shortage of good doctors.

I have been diognosed with Hammer toes. The podiatric that evaluated me doesn’t want to perform surgery on me saying that that should be the last resort. Personally I could no longer look at my toes this way I was wondering if anyone can recommend another podiatrist

    Thanks
