Dying on the vine; or, I hate my landlord
My apartment building is, in a word, ugly. Unlike many of this city

After an entire week of clouds and rain, it felt like that entire city had decided to spend this lovely afternoon on St-Laurent Boulevard which was conveniently closed to automobile traffic.
In between eating (which included a chicken sandwich with hot sauce), shopping and trying to keep an eye on my wife and daughters, I did find the time to take a few pictures. On our way back through Mont-Royal, my daughters discovered Cruella, a really cool store that caters to the living-impaired. Something in their reaction tells me this this will be the source of mucho trouble during their later teenage years.
Boy do I wish that we had put on some sunscreen lotion.
In less than an hour, Charles Aznavour will sing at the venue Wilfrid Pelletier. I heard about him for he first time yesterday at the office party. People referred to him as a legend and I got curious, so when I got home, I googled him. I went on his official website and from the few tracks that can be listened from the interface, I’d say it’s very nice.
He is now 81 and produced good music with beautiful lyrics. It’s no wonder why people don’t worry about the price of a ticket (85-210$).
On the 14 of July 1987, a four-day heat wave ends with a torrential downpour that drops 56-103 mm of rain within a two hours period. The resulting floods remained etched into the city’s memory…at least until the ice storm.
Thank to Adrian’s Lemon Juice Blog, I was able to travel back in time by watching the 6 o’clock Radio Canada news report of that very same evening. Even if you don’t understand French, these images are mind boggling.
The LA area got a mild earthquake about 30 min ago. Go and take a look at blogging.la for what seemed to be a mad dash to the keyboards. I’m counting 6 entries in less than 8 minutes.
For the past couple of months, Lauren and the city captains have been scouring the various Metroblogging sites and picking out the most entertaining stories for the Best of Metroblogging page. Vila’s chicken sandwich story was selected this week, not bad for a newbie.
Looks like it’s a good idea since others are starting to copy it.
There is an interesting story in Cyberpresse on yesterday’s flooding of the Metropolitain Boulevard with dirty, stinky, sewer water. I especially liked the ending that includes a list of the companies involved in the recent renovations of l’Acadie Circle:
> Architect : Lemay et associ

That is one of the balconies on my street. A few minutes or hours later, the weather looked like this.
